How To Get People To Your Website Using Email Marketing

A great way to drive more traffic to your website and generate more sales is to use email marketing.

Instead of only relying on organic or paid search traffic why not use email, which can build loyalvisitorstoyourwebsitethatkeeps them coming back time and time again.

So what are some ways you can use email marketing to drive traffic to your website?

1. Newsletters
A great way to get regular repeat visitors to your website is to send out a newsletter. If you can provide valuable content in your newsletter, that people are interested in, people will be eager to read your newsletter. Then within your newsletter you can provide links to pages on your website that have other relevant information to the topics within your newsletter. But how do you get people to sign up for your newsletter? Ask new customers when they make a purchase if they would like to join your newsletter. Include an opt-in on your website. Here is an example of what an auto responder series might look like. This particular example would be for newsletter subscribers in addition to sending them newsletters.
A. A thank-you for signing up and a welcome message (sent immediately after sign up)
B. A message asking for feedback and what the read thinks of the newsletter (sent 2 months after sign up)
C. A request for what topics the reader would like to see in the newsletter (sent 4 months after sign up)
D. A special offer only to newsletter subscribers (sent 6 months after sign up)
E. A thank-you message thanking them for being an avid newsletter reader asking them if they know of anyone else who might be interested in subscribing to the newsletter (1 year after sign up)
Depending on what email list you send the auto-responder message to you would obviously change the type of messages you send but with each you could create a chain of emails that would be relevant to that list of recipients. Within those emails again you could include links to relevant pages on your website, thereby increasing your traffic. Two great services that you can set up auto-responders with are Aweber and Constant Contact.

3. RSS Feed Email Subscriptions
Include the option for website visitors to subscribe to an RSS feed from your website via email. An RSS feed is a feed that pulls information from a specific part of a website and then automatically sends that information to a predetermined recipient which could be another website or someone’s email in-box. The best part about RSS feeds is that once they are set up they take no work at all to run, they run 100% on autopilot. Some options to create an RSS feed might be company news or press releases, a company blog or news for a specific product or service. By sending these messages by email to people’s in-boxes it again creates an opportunity to send links that the recipients will click on to bring them to your website. A great service that can manage all of this for you is Feedburner.

4. Special Offers
Another great way to drive more traffic to your website using email is to offer to new customers or visitors to your website the option to sign up to a special offers mailing list. This is different than a newsletter as it does not provide valuable content but strictly provides notifications of special deals and offers to people who are on your list. This again provides and opportunity to include links to specific pages of your website and drive more traffic and sales.
